Love the kids audio books, Very good for long (or short) care rides or instead of TV. Lately Tom Chapin's Sing A Whale Song and Maira Kalman's FIREBOAT: The Heroic Adventures of the John J. Harvey have been winners. He keeps singing the "Good garage is bio-degradable" song - which is very cute. We also like in Fireboat how they hande the 9/11 tradegy - of course that leads to many questions and we almost got the dreaded - "why did someone attack the building's". He thinks there is a scary scene in Marc Brown's Arthur Babysits so we have not been able to listen to that one though.

over and over
most of time Matthew loves reading the same books over and over again. You would think I would have memorized Cinderella, Courtney, Critters, One Fish Two Red Fish Blue Fish by now.We did read a new selection from the library recently however, "Bunny Days" by Tao Nyeu. Uggh it was not good - mainly about bunnies get their tails chopped off, made me think Matthew would get the idea to do that to something... a "F".

Scooby (TV Monster)
We finished Scooby -- TV Monster -- then in the middle of the night Matthew woke me up and told me no more Scooby - he didn't like the TV Monster. Scooby books did seem a little advanced and maybe too scary when we first started reading them -- now I know for sure! I kind of remember growing up and not being that into Scooby -- I never liked scary things either... like father like son.
Tonight it was back to basics -- 500 words book -- very boring and told him so -- but I also told him it was his decision to read it and if he wanted it we would read it. So I just powered through it quickly. Then a nightcap of a button pressing music Winnie the Pooh book that I had to sing the words too -- of course I can't carry a tune -- so it was not a pretty sight -- or should I say sound...

Scooby (TV Monster) and Amelia Bedelia
So we got about 20 to 30 Scoody Doo books from a cousin. Matthew likes them - when we first got them he seemed a little tentative since they could be slightly scary - but we took a break from them for a couple weeks and now he seems to be into it. For me they are somewhat interesting, with the mystery and all. Right now we are in the middle of the TV Monster one.
As for Amelia Badelia -- blah! This is the 2nd one -- forgot what the first was about but this one is about a Halloween party. Honestly it's just very stupid -- I guess that half the point - we'll see if Matthew asks for it again... giving it a D.
